Abstract

This qualitative study aimed to 1) describe the experiences of the leader of men who have sex with men (MSM) who delivered voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) for people living with HIV and AIDS. 2) study caring system for people living with HIV/AIDS By MSM’s counseling based. The participants included 2 groups by using purposive sampling. Firstly, there was a group of 20 health care providers who were responsible for caring persons with HIV/AIDs at Udon thani, Phuket, and Khonkaen provinces. The research instruments included the semi-structured interview form, audio-recorder, and focus group recording form. In-depth and focus group interview with audio recording was implemented for data collection. The statistical analysis included content analysis and typology.
The findings showed that the leaders of MSM provided counselling by using informal techniques to approach clients. These techniques included such as disclosing themselves, using discipline principles, and demonstrating good role models. The caring system for persons with HIV/AIDs focused on finding persons who had risks of HIV infection. To find risk persons, the network of MSM’ leaders was applied by telling other people. Also, using mobile or computer to contact clients was used with confidentiality. Importantly, the system management was easily to assess by clients.
Based on the study findings, The recommendation is that the health care providers should encourage MSM is the member of care provider team that to prevent high HIV incidence in MSM
