Postpartum depression is a common complication and affects mother, father, baby and family. The Enhancing of life assets helps to develop postpartum adolescent mothers to be mentally and socially empowered, intellectually powered, and community networked. This quasi-experimental research aimed to study effects of life assets enhancement program on self-esteem and depression among postpartum adolescent mother .A quasi-experimental study. They were randomly assigned into an experimental group and a control group, with 50 postpartum adolescent mothers each. The experimental group then received the enhancing of life assets program six mouths. On the other hand, the control group received the usual care. Research instruments consisted of; 1) Demographic data from 2) Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale, Cronbach’s coefficient at 0.85, 3) The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Cronbach’s coefficient at 0.86. The personal data was analyzed by descriptive statistics and chi-square test, and hypotheses were test using independent t- test and paired t- test.
The research found that: At the end of the program, the experimental group consisted of 49 patients (98%). The control group consisted of 48 patients (96%). Postpartum adolescent mothers who participated in the life assets enhancement program had significantly higher self-esteem scores than in the pre-test and control groups at 0.01 and lower depression scores than before the experiment and the control group had a statistically significant level of 0.02. Conclusions that effective of life assets helps postpartum adolescent mothers feel self-esteem and reduce depression. As well as the power to help postpartum adolescent mothers have a good quality of life and can effectively raise children.
