Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research aimed to examine data used to make decisions about care for diabetic patients for village health volunteers. Collect data  at Phralap subdistrict Muang Khon Kaen. The 47 key informants including village health volunteers, diabetic patients and family members. The research methods were participatory observation, in depth interview, group discussion and documents. The data was analyzed by content analysis.

The results showed that village health volunteers used data to make decisions to care for diabetic patients including 1) diabetic patients and family data 2) Data from training knowledge and 3) data concerning social capital. Data management process including 1) Data learning 2) Data comparison and 3) Data utilization

Suggestions are 1) study topic related at other area as district level or different contexts, 2) develop training process for village health volunteers depend on context and focusing on the practical aspects, 3 develop a diabetes patient assessment tool for village health volunteers that is appropriate to the context and knowledge.
