การฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่นเป็นปัญหาหลักทางสาธารณสุขที่สำคัญ โดยพบว่าการฆ่าตัวตายเป็นสาเหตุของการเสียชีวิตอันดับต้นๆ ในกลุ่มวัยรุ่นทั่วโลก และพบว่าอัตราการฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่นยังคงเกิดขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องในทุกปี ซึ่งส่งผลกระทบในวงกว้างทั้งด้านสุขภาพ และเศรษฐกิจต่อบุคคล ครอบครัว และประเทศ การฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่นกลายเป็นประเด็นหลักทางสาธารณสุขที่ต้องเร่งแก้ไขด้วยมาตรการป้องกันที่มีประสิทธิภาพจากการร่วมมือของบุคลากรที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้อง บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอความรู้เกี่ยวกับอุบัติการณ์ของการฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่น สาเหตุและปัจจัยเสี่ยง สัญญาณเตือน การป้องกัน และบทบาทพยาบาลในการป้องกันการฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่น โดยมุ่งเน้นบทบาทพยาบาลในมิติของการป้องกัน ได้แก่ การประเมินและคัดกรอง และการดูแลช่วยเหลือในระยะเริ่มแรก ซึ่งเป็นบทบาทสำคัญในการป้องกันการฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่น การป้องกันที่มีประสิทธิภาพสามารถตัดความรุนแรง และลดการสูญเสียจากปัญหาการฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่นได้ ซึ่งมีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่งต่อการแก้ไขปัญหาการฆ่าตัวตายในวัยรุ่น ทั้งนี้ยังสามารถช่วยให้วัยรุ่นเติบโตเข้าสู่วัยผู้ใหญ่ได้อย่างมีคุณภาพสามารถทำคุณประโยชน์ให้กับประเทศได้
