The Development of Model Activities for Elders’ Quality Of Life Improvement in Tambon Na Fai, Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province
This study was conducted based on participatory action research comprising 3 objectives as following: 1) to develop models of activities enhancing to improve quality of life of the elderly, 2) to compare the quality of life of the elderly before and after utilizing the developed activities. And 3) to evaluate outcome of implementing the models of activities enhancing to improve quality of life of the elderly. The researcher consisted of 40 elderly persons. And 22 participants to contribute evaluating activities, selected from providers of important data, participants in planning preparation, persons responsible in caring for the elderly in the community, comprising 15 elderly caregivers, 5 public health volunteers and 2 local health officers. The research instrument used was semi-structured question and questionnaire. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, group-focused discussions; data analysis was conducted in qualitative content analysis, and summarizing issues in accordance with objectives, questionnaire studies, using percentage, mean, standard deviation and paired t- test.
Results of Study
- Model activities likely to improve elder’s quality of life comprised three aspects: 1 to promote physical and mental strength; 2 value enhancements by leisure activity participation; and 3 cultural preservation, elder’s family and community participation.
- The comparison of elder’s quality of life before and after the activity participation suggested that their quality of life after the participation improved with statistically significant difference at 0.05.
- The satisfaction with the model of quality of life development for the elderly overall is at a high level (x̄=4.38±0.48)
