กระทรวงแรงงานได้กำหนดโรคเครียดภายหลังเหตุการณ์สะเทือนขวัญ (post-traumatic stress disorder: PTSD) ไว้ในประกาศกระทรวงแรงงาน เรื่อง กำหนดชนิดของโรคซึ่งเกิดขึ้นตามลักษณะ หรือสภาพของงาน หรือเนื่องจากการทำงาน พ.ศ. 2566 เพื่อปกป้องผลประโยชน์ของลูกจ้างในกรณีที่ได้รับผลกระทบแก่จิตใจจาก PTSD ที่เกิดขึ้นจากการทำงานให้นายจ้าง ปัจจุบันการวินิจฉัย PTSD ใช้เกณฑ์การวินิจฉัยตามคู่มือวินิจฉัยและสถิติสำหรับความผิดปกติทางจิตฉบับที่ 5 ของสมาคมจิตแพทย์สหรัฐอเมริกา ร่วมกับการประเมินอาการและอาการแสดงโดยจิตแพทย์ ส่วนการวินิจฉัยความเกี่ยวเนื่องกับการทำงานของโรคยังไม่มีการกำหนดแนวทางที่ชัดเจน ซึ่งต้องพิจารณาทั้งประเด็นทางด้านกฎหมายและข้อเท็จจริงทางด้านการแพทย์
บทความนี้ได้ทบทวนองค์ความรู้ทั้งมุมมองด้านกฎหมายและข้อเท็จจริงด้านการแพทย์ทั้งในระดับประเทศและสากล เพื่อกำหนดแนวทางในการวินิจฉัยความเกี่ยวเนื่องกับงานของ PTSD ให้ชัดเจน อันจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อจิตแพทย์ แพทย์อาชีวเวชศาสตร์ และพนักงานเจ้าหน้าที่กองทุนเงินทดแทน เพื่อให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุดต่อทั้งนายจ้างและลูกจ้างตามพระราชบัญญัติเงินทดแทน พ.ศ. 2537
