บทคัดย่อ

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of school-based intervention for teacher in handle children with Attention-Defi cit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in school.

Materials and methods This is a controlled experimental study compared the school-based program for teacher in handle children with ADHD with the control group. There were 50 primary school teachers in each group. The study group was given a training program while the controlled group was given self-studied pamphlets. The independent t-test was used to compare the knowledge, attitude and skills, before and after the training program one month. In the study group, the number of high-risk students who were screened with ADHD and received support from their school was also observed.

Results Scores in attitude and skill of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group signifi cantly. About 85 percent of risk group of children with ADHD in the experimental group were screened and received some intervention from teachers. Then some were referred for proper psychiatric treatment. Furthermore 95 percent of all teachers have reported satisfy with the intervention.

Conclusion Training teachers the school-based intervention can improve awareness, understanding and handling skill of teachers to manage ADHD children in primary school signifi cantly.
