Effectiveness of community mental health crisis intervention with belief of devil (Phi - pop) : 2 case reports

บทคัดย่อ

As the result of the ritual of devil expelling in Khon Kaen; which was done on the last day of the Asea Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting. The emergency psychiatric team took action to decreased the community crisis and intervention 2 cases with spirit possession and person was accused to be “Phi-pops”. The first case was Miss A (Fake name) felt fainted on the roof of a home while trying to adjust the television antenna. Then she said a “Phi-pop” haunted her. The rumor then started. At the same time more than 20 people died in the village. The result of psychological test didn’t find psychotic sign but she had intrapsychic conflict and diagnosed trance and possession disorders. The intervention were counseling relaxation and we met her family and the teacher for consult her need. The second case name Ms C. was accused to be “Phi-pop” the result of psychological test didn’t find psychotic sign and diagnosed adjustment disorder with anxious and depressed mood. The intervention were counseling and ventilated emotion, feeling, frustration to this event. Encouraging and support to appropriately problem coping, the team informed resource persons for support her in the community. We decrease the community crisis by informed the cause of 20 people who died in community. After the 6 months everthing calmed down.
