The relationships between Emotional Quotient and sexual behaviour of teenagers in Bangkok

บทคัดย่อ

Objective : The objective of this study is to examine sexual behaviour, Emotional Quotient (EQ), and the relationship between EQ and sexual behaviour of  the  teenagers in Bangkok Metropolitant Area.

Materials and methods :  By stratified random sampling method, 1,200 samples were drawn from Grade 9 pupils in  the public schools under  the Ministry of Education. Using Chi-square and correlation statistics.

Results : The results revealedar follow   : On sexual behaviour risk  : 26.0 percent watching pornographic videos, 21.9 percent reading pornographic magazines, 21.1 percent visiting pornographic websites. On inappropriate sexual behaviour: 87.1 percent experiencing social activities (dating, night-stay with girl/boy friend, drinking, going out at night, opposite-sex body contact). Eighty five point
sevent percent having sexual relationship (when going out or staying with friend or at first met, not using condom). Sixty eight point six percent doing masturbation. On EQ  : 47.2 percent having deviat-ing EQ; of which 68.2 percent on happiness, 51.5 percent on competency, and 43.0 person on virture. On  the relationship between EQ and sexual behaviour :  there was a low positive correlation (r = 0.308).
 
Conclusion : As  inappropiate sexual behaviour of teenagers in Bangkok   is rather high, a further study concernary all internal and external  factors needs  to be carried out for an effective prevention and remedy.
