The development of psychiatric network in Sakonnakhon province

Objective To improve ability of psychiatric staffs in the network for developing care system, referral system and repatriated system between networks. 
Materials and methods This research managed by a team of researchers to analyze the problems, obstacles and all suggestion to set objective, design activities and evaluation from 30th  September 2011 to 30th September 2012 
Results There were two-step processes i.e., design and system planning and operations and
evaluation. All community hospitals were invited to participated in the program and 114 staffs had been trained to enhance psychiatric skill and knowledge. After completion of the project, 17 community hospitals could provide mental health clinics and have system of necessary psychiatric drugs. The unnecessary referral rate of psychiatric cases was reduced. 
Conclusion The mental health and psychiatric network operated by Sakonnakhon hospital had a comprehensive network of 17 hospitals where had the ability to serve the community-psychiatric patients based on their availabilities could improve patient-accessing to close-to-home psychiatric service, improve staffs’ abilities, reduced travel time and expense of patients and reduced the unnecessarily referral rate. For the best result should follow in the long run.
