The delivery of a first-time pregnant teenager is a significant life crisis event due to the physical and mental unpreparedness of the mother, leading to inappropriate pain coping behaviors during labor, increased tension, and prolonged labor duration. Pain relief during labor reduces pain levels and promotes appropriate pain coping behaviors. This research is a systematic literature review aimed at summarizing the methods and outcomes of pain relief during labor for first-time pregnant teenagers, using the research protocol based on the systematic review concept of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Six studies published since 2000 were identified between 2013 - 2023 is a quasi experimental research with a reliability level of 2.c. The researcher extracted, analyzed, and synthesized the data, employing various pain relief methods. A summary of pain relief methods during labor for first-time pregnant adolescents was compiled.
The results of this systematic literature review can summarize pain relief methods, including continuous support from the pregnancy stage to the delivery stage, hot and cold compresses, back and foot massages, and pain management through breathing and free movement. These methods are effective in relieving pain during delivery for first-time pregnant teenagers. It is recommended that studies be conducted on pain relief during delivery for first-time pregnant teenagers, with continuous social support from their husbands and other family members to reduce pain.
