Knowledge Satisfaction and Side Effect of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Among Adolescent Mothers, Chanthaburi Province

This descriptive research aimed to study knowledge, satisfaction, and side effects after using long-acting reversible contraception among adolescent mothers. The samples consisted of 255 adolescent mothers in Chanthaburi who used the long-acting reversible contraception. Research instruments composed of the general data questionnaire, knowledge of long-acting reversible contraception, satisfaction to receive the contraception and side effect after used the long-acting reversible contraception. The data were collected from June 2017 to March 2018. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The research results showed that 1) the majority of the sample have knowledge about side effects of long-acting reversible contraception (77.87%), 2) the satisfaction of
Nor-plant and Intrauterine device was a good level ( = 3.73, S.D. = .024,
= 3.59, S.D. = .033). After they used this contraception, the most side effects for Norplant was more than one symptom (66.30%) and the most side effect for Intrauterine device was leucorrhoea (40.70%)
Findings of this study suggest that health personnel should have attention and follow up on the side effects of long-acting reversible contraception. Moreover, information on contraception should provide continuously. There will promote long term using contraception which effect on prevention repeat pregnancy.
