Evaluate rapid test kit for diagnosis respiratory virus infection type Human – metapneumo virus
Main Article Content
Abstract
Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is an important viral respiratory pathogen of worldwide(1). Respiratory trace infection are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide(2). In young children, human respiratory. For children < 5 years old , respiratory tract infections are ranked as the second leading cause of death(2). In Netherlands reported hMPV was detected in 7% from patients with respiratory tract illnesses (RTIs)(3). In China reported hMPV were positive for hMPV 2%(4). For in Thailnad the prevalence of hMPV for all age groups was 6.3% and highest prevalence in children aged < 2 years old was 4.2%(5). Laboratory diagnosis by molecular biology technique has importance for diagnosis and treatment but have limitation of this test such as expensive and long turn around time. In the present have alternative method such as immunochromatographic assay by rapid test ti is cheaper and faster. Aim of study was to evaluate rapid test for hMPV by immunochromatographic assay compare polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) in Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, Thailand
A total of 356 nasal swab specimens were collected during October 2018 – Mach 2019. The results show sensitivity and specificity 58.33 and 99.71 respectively when compare by RT PCR. The prevalence of hMPV performed by using ICT was 3.37 % (12/356)
