Abstract

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerging infectious disease, of which the case has not been reported before. Health education learning management can be a tool to promote appropriate knowledge, attitude, practices, health literacy, and transfer helpful information to families and community members in order to reduce spread of the disease as well.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, disease control and prevention in compliance with the Ministry of Public Health should be conducted in parallel with learning management to emphasize on students’ thinking systems, self-reminding, and virtuousness so that they are capable of adjusting themselves and prepared to cope with ongoing situations. This can be done through classroom learning in normal situations, blended learning amidst limited local transmission, and home-based learning amidst widespread local transmission.

Moreover, special activities: 1) Student Volunteers which include COVID-19 prevention volunteers and COVID-19 communication volunteers. The first group is responsible for assisting their teachers in disseminating information as well as producing materials to campaign for disease prevention. While the second group of volunteers is in charge of monitoring COVID-19 situation and verifying integrity of information before passing it to the COVID-19 prevention volunteers for further production of materials in different forms under the teacher’s review. 2) Health Guidance by experts, psychologists, social workers, and other related professionals who provide guidance, advice, and visiting to students’ homes are also conducted to find out cause of related problems and to discuss with their parents to address the problems.

The concept and guidelines above should promote maximum level of learning, health awareness, and self-prevention from COVID-19 among students.
