Development of Clinical Practice Guideline for tuberculosis patients care, prevention and control of TB transmission for multidisciplinary team in Sisaket hospital

Abstract
This development research aims to provide clinical practice guideline (CPG) for tuberculosis (TB) patients care, prevention and control of TB transmission for multidisciplinary team in Sisaket hospital.
National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), 1998 was used for the conceptual frame work, and Joint Commission International (JCI) was used for the theoretical framework. The study sample were chosen by purposive sampling into 2 groups, 1) 202 of the multidisciplinary personnel work in TB clinic, outpatient department, emergency department, and inpatient department, and 2) 682 TB sputum smear
positive patients, and were attending either the TB clinic or inpatient department during the time of study
18 months between January 2017 and June 2018.
Research instruments include education planning and developed CPG. The developed CPG consists of 2 sections, 1) TB patients care, and 2) prevention and control of TB transmission in hospital. Data
collected instruments were the CPG feasibility questionnaires, TB knowledge test, and the observation form which have been tested for Content validity index (CVI) and reliability before use. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistic, paired t-test and chi-square.
The results of implementation showed the high feasibility that the CPG, and the effect of guideline implementation significantly increased knowledge and practice in all group of multidisciplinary personnel (p<0.001). Moreover, as the results, Sisaket hospital was assessed the quality hospital standard for TB care and treatment between 2017-2018 at the highest score (99.99%) by The Office of Disease Prevention and Control 10, Ubon Ratchathani. Results from study are recommended for thorough use the CPG and the further study in utilization and consistency of CPG.
