Manpower Requirement Characteristics for Community Public Health with Knowledge of Thai Traditional Medicine in Songkhla Province

Abstract

This research was aimed at studing the manpower requirement characteristics for community public health with knowledge of Thai traditional medicine in Songkhla province. A total of 79 questionnaires were sent to public health facilities in Songkhla Province; there were 66 responses. The results showed that the characteristics requiring unique skills were at a high level overall. Considered item by item, enthusiasm for work was in greatest need, followed by positive attitude toward work and full capacity effort. The characteristic requiring problem-solving ability and decision-making skill was also at a high level overall. Considered item by item, making decisions properly to solve problems was needed the most, followed by the ability to prepare and organize work and being adaptable to the needs of the work. As for the required relationship with other people, it was at a moderate level overall. Considered item by item, willingness to take responsibility
for the assigned work was the highest need, followed by the adoption of administrative skills, following the recommendation of the chief and adaptability to the needs of colleagues. Required communication skills were at a moderate level overall. Considered item by item, the ability to be a good listener was the highest need, followed by the ability to speak clearly and to ask questions. The manpower characteristic required by work style was at a high level overall. Considered item by item, the ability to complete the work on schedule was the highest need, followed by circumspection and ability to improve the work performance appropriately. Themanpower characteristic in the aspect of the required maturity was overall at a high level. Considered item by item, the ability to work well without being controlled or inspected was the highest need, followed by work circumspection and responsibility. The manpower characteristic requiring hygienic conditions and safety in work was at a high level overall. Considered item by item, the ability to work under pressure was the highest need, followed by awareness of work safety and safety rules. The manpower characteristic requiring commitment was at a high level overall. Considered item by item, diligence in work was the highest need, followed by working regularly and being on time and performing the work according to established policies.
