A study of the readiness to provide noise measurement services of sound measurement providers in Thailand

Abstract
The objective of this research was to assess the readiness of the service providers to provide noise measurement services in Thailand. The methodology used was survey method. Thirty subjects were recruited by random sampling. The questionnaire was used for data collection and data were analysed by descriptive statistics. The results showed 86.7% of noise measurement service providers located in Bangkok and all of them can provide services nationwide. The majority of them (46.7%) had 1-10 sound level meters. There were 25.0% had 6-10 sound level meters with octave band analyzer. There were 40.0% had 1-5 noise dosimeters and there were 40.0% had 11-15 noise dosimeters. The noise measurement sampling areas were selected by safety officers in workplace and the service providers. The most of noise measurement teams (76.7%) were not greater than 5 persons that included the person who graduated Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety. The persons who graduated at least Bachelor or Master of Occupational Health or equivalent to Bachelor or Master of Occupational Health were included in the noise analysis teams. Certification of noise measurement and analysis proceeded according to the law. According to the study, the recommendations should to study the quality and standard of noise measurement and analysis by the service providers.
