Risk assessment of the waste recycling shops in Tasala, Nakhon Sri Thummarat

Abstract
This cross-sectional descriptive research aims to assess the risks of waste recycling shop in Tha Sala, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The sample of study composed of 9 waste recycling shop. The data was collected between November 2561 to March 2562. The checklist method was employed by using a risk assessment form according to the industry standard department. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The most concern issue was occupational health and safety which 93.8% performed under the criteria. The unacceptable risks level were smoking and eating food during working (50.0%) and no fire extinguishers in the workplace (33.3%). In addition, there were high risks level issues including improper material storage area (100%), obstructing emergency exits (100%), fire extinguishers (67.7%), machinery safety signs (67.7%), and dust and noise pollution (62.5%). Moreover, there were acceptable risk issues such as personal protective equipment and tool storage. No minimal risk level was observed in waste recycling shops. The results of the study can be used to develop risk control and reduction plan as well as a health surveillance program of waste recycling workers.
