Abstract

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to: (1) compare parental perception in the experimental group before and after receiving a video-based educational program with a reminder system; (2) compare parental perception between the experimental and control groups before and after the intervention; and (3) examine parental satisfaction with the program. The sample consisted of 42 parents of children aged 0–5 years who attended vaccination services at Trang Municipal Primary Care Center. Participants were divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 21 in each group. The research instruments included: (1) a video-based educational program with a reminder system, and (2) data collection tools consisting of a parental perception questionnaire on childhood vaccination and a parental satisfaction questionnaire. Content validity, assessed using the Index of Item–Objective Congruence (IOC), ranged from 0.68 to 1.00. Reliability testing showed a KR-20 coefficient of 0.875, and Cronbach’s alpha was 0.85. The intervention was conducted over 8 weeks and included five sessions. The main activities were vaccination screening, video-based education, dissemination of educational videos via LINE Open Chat, and a reminder system. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and independent t-test.

The results showed that, after the intervention, parents in the experimental group had significantly higher perception scores than before the program (t = 4.965, p < 0.001). There was no significant difference between the experimental and control groups before the intervention. After the intervention, the experimental group had significantly higher perception scores than the control group (t = 3.779, p < 0.001).

These findings indicate that the video-based educational program with a reminder system is effective in improving parental perception of childhood vaccination. The program can be applied in healthcare settings to support parents and promote timely vaccination for children aged 0–5 years.
