Development of a Nursing Service System for Women Giving Birth Infected with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at Hatyai Hospital

Abstract
The objectives of this research was research and development study were to develop and evaluate the implementation of the nursing service system for women giving birth infected with Coronavirus disease 2019. The sample was selected purposively and consisted of 25 registered nurses working in the delivery room and 150 COVID-19 infected laboring women. The research instruments consisted of (1) nursing service system for women giving birth Infected with COVID-19, (2) general Information questionnaire, (3) COVID-19 knowledge assessment form, (4) assessment form for nursing practice competency of pregnant women infected with corona virus 2019, (5) survey of nurses' satisfaction. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test.
The results indicated that the nursing service system for women giving birth Infected with COVID-19 consisted of 8 standards: nursing care during waiting for labor, during childbirth, during postpartum, health promotion, health protection, providing health information and knowledge, protection of birther’s rights and nursing records. The scores of knowledge, competency and satisfaction in nursing practice of Coronavirus 2019 infection patients after using the system increased significantly than before using the system (p < .001). The number of infected personnel decrease. The results of the quality of nursing services found that 31.3% of the cases were vaginal delivery, 52.7% were caesarean sections, 1.6% had postpartum hemorrhages, 1.6% had severe pneumonia, and no mother deaths were reported. 7.9% of the cases were premature babies, 3.9% had hypoxic, 1.6% were infected with Coronavirus 2019 after birth, and no infant deaths were reported.
