Abstract


      This study aimed to develop and evaluate the nursing service system model for Covid-19 patients. The study consisted of 3 phases: (1) study the situation (2) develop the model (3) evaluate the model implementation. The sample consisted of 12 head nurses, 65 registered nurses, and 20 Covid-19 patients. The research instrument comprised of (1) a manual of service system management (2) a care plan of the COVID-19 patient with pulmonary infection (3) a 5 set of data collection. The content validity by 5 experts was 0.8. and reliability were 0.90, 0.90, 0.96, 0.80 และ 0.96 respectively. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test and Chi-Square test.


The results revealed that that there were two types of nursing service system models: (1) in normal situations, the management for COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit using a ventilator (CICU), in which consisted of pre-crisis, crisis and post-crisis period (2) in emergency situations, the management for the critical COVID-19 patients, in which consisted of the preparation, the operating, and the termination period. After implementing the nursing service system models, the organization was ready to manage the outbreak of COVID-19. The different on satisfaction, perceived their competency in caring for COVID-19 patients and burn-out score of the executive nurses and the nurse practitioners were not statistically significant (p > .05). The opinion of the COVID-19 patients towards the model were at a good level (Mean 4.80, SD 0.41) and their knowledge and ability to manage were at a good level (Mean 4.15, SD 0.45).
