Abstract
Abstract
The objective of this research and development was to develop and study the results of the develoed clinical nursing practice guideline (CNPG) for nurse anesthetist in patients who received mitral valve replacement under general anesthesia. The study consisted of 4 steps (1) studied situation, (2) developed CNPG, (3) implemented CNPG, and (4) evaluated CNPG. The sample consisted of 55 nurse anesthetist and 30 patients undergoing mitral valve replacement. The research instrument included the CNPG, verified by 3 experts yielding a value of 1. Data were collected using (1) the CNPG opinion questionnaire, (2) assessment the compliance with the CNPG, (3) anesthesia knowledge test, (4) the patients’ satisfaction questionnaire, and (5) self-care ability assessment. Conbach’s alpha coefficient were .87, .81, .79, .82, and .82respectively. Data were using descriptive statistics and t-test.
The results revealed that the CNPG consisted of 3 components (1) CNPG for pre-anesthetic phase, (2) CNPG for intra-anesthetic phase, and (3) CNPG for post-anesthetic phase. The outcomes of using the CNPG found that the nurse anesthetist’ knowledge mean score were significantly higher than before using the CNPG at .05. The nurse anesthetist’s overall opinions were at the highest level (Mean 3.61, SD .45) and the overall practice scores were at a high level (Mean 3.46, SD .48). The patient’s overall satisfaction scores were at the highest level (Mean 3.56, SD .50). The quality outcomes of the nursing services showed that the rate of pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia visits of the patients was 100 percent, and did not found the incidence of complications during anesthesia
