Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to develop and study the results of administer general anesthesia model for nurse anesthetist taking care of patients undergoing Laminectomy. The process consisted of 4 steps: (1) situation analysis, (2) practice development,t (3) implementation,n and (4) evaluation. The samples were nurse anesthetists and patients who were received Laminectomy. The research instruments were the practice guideline for general anesthesia with a prone position in Orthopedics surgery and standard setting for nurse anesthetists’ competency taking care of patients undergoing Laminectomy. Data were collected using satisfaction form for used practice guideline, the assessment form on nurse anesthetist competency and record form rate of surgical cancellation or postponement. The data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive statistics.
The results showed that the developed model comprised of 5 items: (1) preparation of practitioner by standard setting of nurse anesthetists’ competency and set a preceptor system for new staff, (2) construct practice guideline for general anesthesia with a prone position in Orthopedics surgery (3) provide anesthetic service before operation, (4) set an agreement of time schedule for elective case, and (5) expanding the operation room to other hospitals. The clinical results from applied developed model revealed that all patients received pre-anesthetic assessment before surgery, the rate of surgical cancellation or postponement is reduced from 14.84 % to 2.56% and no prevented complications occurred both during and after the surgery and all surgery had done in time.
