Main Article Content
Abstract
The development of health service system model of acute coronary syndrome based on research and development approach aimed at studying the situation developing the model and examining the effectiveness of the health service system model of acute coronary syndrome and consisted of 3 phases: (1) studied situation of caring acute coronary syndrome patients, (2) developed the health service system model of acute coronary syndrome, and (3) examined effectiveness of the developed health service system of acute coronary syndrome program using quasi-experimental design to compare knowledge, basic life support skills and screening and referral skills. The sample was randomly selected using case matching, in which the control and experimental groups comprised of 23 participants. Data were analyzed using frequency percentage and independent t-test.
The results on studying the situation of caring for acute coronary syndrome revealed the VHVs had knowledge and basic life support skills at the moderate level. The developed health service system model of acute coronary syndrome consisted of (1) education of acute coronary syndrome, (2) basic life support skills training and (3) screening and referral skills training. The effectiveness of the health service system model of acute coronary syndrome found that the VHVs in the control group had knowledge, basic life support skills and screening and referral skills significantly higher than those VHVs in the control group (p < .05). Thus, the developed health service system model of acute coronary syndrome was a good tool to capacity building the VHVs to have confidence in effectively taking care of the acute ischemic heart disease, thereby making the patient safe and have a good quality of life.
