A Study of Trust toward the Nursing Instructor of the Nursing Students, in the Faculty of Nursing, Private University

Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive study was to study trust towards the nursing instructor, in the faculty of nursing, private university. A sample of 298 nursing students was recruited using random sampling technique. Sample size calculated using a formula of Krejcie and Morgan1. Tools used for data collection consisted of personal information and trust towards the nursing instructor questionnaires. The content validity of a questionnaire was assessed by 3 experts, IOC 0.87 and reliability using Cronbach Alpha Coefficients yielding a value of 0.91 and 0.84 respectively. Data were analyzed using frequencies, percentage, mean and standard deviation.


The results showed high level of trust towards the nursing instructor (Mean 4.36, SD 0.57), consisted of 7 aspects: 1) respect; 2) integrity; 3) promise and consistency; 4) motivational support; 5) positive thinking; 6) caring and 7) responsibility and generosity. In addition, trust towards the nursing instructor of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year nursing students were at a high level (Mean 4.36, SD 0.57),  (Mean 4.56, SD 0.53), (Mean4.07, SD 0.69), และ (Mean 4.36, SD 0.56) respectively.
