Abstract

This quasi-experimental research, conducted in a single group with pre- and post-experiment     measurements, aimed to study the effects of video media combined with online health counseling on the average scores of food consumption behavior, physical activity, and body mass index before and after the intervention, as well as to assess the sustainability over 12 weeks among women in their early adulthood the Tha Ruea Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital area of Suratthani Province. The simple random sampling method was used to select 27 participants, who received video media combined with online health counseling. The intervention's sustainability was followed up in the 12th week of program, using a food consumption behavior measurement tool, as well as a physical activity measurement tool. The content validity was verified, with a consistency index ranging from 0.67 to 1.0. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, yielding reliability scores of .80 and .82, respectively. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and Friedman test. The results were as follows.

1. The average scores of food consumption behavior, both after the experiment and during the 12th-week follow-up, were significantly higher than before the experiment (p-value < .001).

2. The average scores of physical activity, both after the experiment and during the 12th-week follow-up, were significantly higher than before the experiment at the .01 level (p-value = .001).

3. The body mass index (BMI), between after the experiment and during the 12th-week follow-up, did not show any different from before the experiment (p-value = .228).

Therefore, the implementation of this video media program, combined with online health counseling, can be considered for proactive use in sub-district health-promoting hospitals, in order to continuously encourage self-care behavior changes, which could prevent future health problems.
