The Study of Comparative Effects of Lom-Pa-kung Treatment between Thai Royal Massage Combined with Herbal Compress with Herbal Poultice Combined, and Herbal Compress at Sai Buri Crown Prince Hospital, Sai Buri District, Pattani Province

This study is quasi-experimental research and the objectives of this study were to compare the effects after healing patients with Lom-pa-kung (migraine) among using only herbal poultice and only herbal compress, and the standard treatment of migraine is Thai royal massage combined with herbal compress in Sai Buri Crown Prince Hospital,Sai Buri District,Pattani Province. Ninety were selected following specified criteria and were separated into three groups;30 patients for control group used herbal compress and 30 patients for two experimental groups; group I used herbal poultice and group II used the standard treatment of Thai royal massage combined with herbal compress. Their characteristic of three groups is quite similar. Headache pain level, a turning neck degree and frequency of patient headache at pre-experiment were not different significantly at a level of 0.05. Data were collected by researcher using questionnaire, assessing a pain level of headache, evaluating a motion of neck turning degree and numbering a frequency of headache. Data were analyzed by paired-t-test was used for comparing an average score within group as well as one-way ANOVA
The result: showed that the average of headache pain, a turning neck degree and frequency of patient headache at pre-experiment no. 1 and post-experiment no. 12 among the control group and the experimental group I and the experimental group II were different significantly at a level of 0.05 (p value<0.05). The pain level between Thai royal massage combined with herbal compress, and herbal compress, and herbal poultice were different significantly at a level of 0.05 (p value<0.05). The motion neck turning degree between Thai royal massage combined with herbal compress, and herbal compress, and herbal poultice were different significantly at a level of 0.05 (p value<0.05) as similar as the frequency of patient headache between Thai royal massage combined with herbal compress, and herbal compress, and herbal poultice were different significantly at a level of 0.05 (p value<0.05).
Recommendation in this study should study continually how to heal headache by using combination among Thai royal massage, herbal compress and herbal poultice to offer academic data for self-patient care of Lom-pa-kung treatment instead of taking conventional medicines.
