Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purposes of this descriptive research were to study a level of work happiness, the relationship between organizational climate and emotional quotient with work happiness, and the predicting factors of work happiness of nurses in Community Hospital. The sample of this study composed of 158 nurses who worked at Community Hospital, Chainat Province. The sample size was calculated by power analysis and selected by the stratified random sampling technique. The content validity of research instruments was judged by 3 experts (IOC = 0.67-1.00) and the Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients of the three parts of questionnaires were 0.93, 0.94, and 0.92 respectively. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis.

The results showed that samples had work happiness at happy level ( = 68.86, S.D = 7.24), had organizational climate at medium level (  =3.42, S.D.=0.39) and emotional quotient at high level ( =3.86, S.D.=0.38). There were significantly positive correlations between organizational climate and emotional quotient with work happiness at a low level. (r=0.414, 0.430 respectively, p <.01). Both organizational climate and emotional quotient could predict 25.1% of work happiness of nurses (R2=0.251).  

The findings suggest that the administrator of community hospital should be set up human recourse development strategies to enhancing organizational climate and adversity emotional quotient of nurses in order to increase work happiness of nurses toward better quality of nursing service.
