Factor Analysis on New Normal of Medical Services during COVID-19’s Outbreak among Out Patient Department in Health Care Provider under Ministry of Public Health

Abstract

This quantitative research aimed to study the components and indicators of competency in community mental health care of village health volunteers (VHVs) in Nam Som District, Udon Thani Province. The sample was 310 VHVs in Nam Som District. Udonthani Province using stratified random sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire constructed by the researcher that was validated for content validity; the Index of item objective congruence (IOC) was ranged from .67 – 1.00. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the entire questionnaire was equal to .960. Data were analyzed by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with Varimax rotation.

The results showed that the components and indicators for the competency in community mental health care of the village health volunteers consisted of 4 components, and 29 indicators. There were 8 indicators of competency in specific characteristics, 11 indicators of competency in personal mental health care, 6 indicators of competency in proactive actions in the community, and 4 indicators of competency in public relations and community assessment. All 4 components together could explain the variance of the 29 indicators at 66.27% with Eigen values ​​of 51.20, 7.79, 3.94 and 3.35 respectively.

Therefore, related agencies should use the research findings as guidelines for the assessment and development of VHVs in order to concretely and continuously monitor and prevent mental health problems in the community.
