Factors Affecting Motorcycle Accident Prevention Behavior Among Students at a University in Samut Songkhram Province, Thailand

Motorcycle accidents are a significant problem worldwide and in Thailand, particularly among youth and university students. This study aimed to investigate factors influencing motorcycle accident prevention behaviors among students at a university in Samut Songkhram province. The sample consisted of 293 students. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that the students had a high level of knowledge (81.9%), a moderate level of attitude (53.2%), and a high level of accident prevention behavior (49.8%). Factors influencing motorcycle accident prevention behaviors among students at a university in Samut Songkhram province that could significantly predict the behavior (p<.05) included knowledge, perceived risk, perceived severity, and cues to action. The findings suggest that promoting knowledge, awareness, and appropriate cues to action are important strategies for enhancing accident prevention behaviors among university students. These insights should be applied for the future accident prevention campaigns.
