Development of Risk Management Tool for Quality Dental Clinics of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospitals in Pathum Thani Province

Abstract

This research and development aimed to investigate the situation and problems of quality dental clinics, develop and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management tool using in sub-district health promoting hospitals in Pathum Thani province. The samples were 43 persons including dentists from Pathum Thani hospital and dental staff in the sub-district health promoting hospitals in Pathum Thani province. The research instruments were the standard assessment forms of quality dental clinics, record forms of group discussions and questionnaires. The quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation statistics, and the qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.

The results showed that the main problem of quality dental clinics was risk management which 75.0%. of sub-district health promoting hospitals passed the assessment at a low level. The development of risk management tool for quality dental clinics of sub-district health promoting hospitals was the sub-district health promoting hospital risk occurrence report form which consisted of: (1) general information; (2) adverse event reports; (3) events; (4) risk management events and actions; and (5) risk management committee opinions. Quality of the developed form was assessed showing as having high effectiveness (mean=4.17, SD.=0.47). After the audit, the quality dental clinics in the sub-district health promoting hospitals were assessed and met all the additional criteria of risk management.

Therefore, the developed risk management tools can be used to develop risk management standards in the quality dental clinics of sub-district health promoting hospitals for further quality.
