This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to explore the relationship between percieved self-efficacy and preventive behaviors towards Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among the elderly in U-Thong district, Suphan Buri province. Totally, 392 elderly participants were recruited using simple random sampling method and with ethics consideration. Based on Bandura's Self-Efficacy Theory, questionnaires with the .933 content validity index for scale (S-CVI) and with .978 Cronbach's alpha coefficient for reliability were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Pearson's correlation coefficient.
Results revealed that the overall scores of percieved self-efficacy was at a high level (M = 3.95, SD = 0.71). The overall scores of perception and prevention behaviors of COVID-19 were also at a high level (M = 4.10, SD = 0.77 and M = 4.15, SD = 0.69, respectively). The factor of percieved self-efficacy was positively correlated with COVID-19 prevention behaviors (r = 0.74, p < .001).
Therefore, activities to build self-efficacy should be promoted to increase self-confidence among the elderly, leading to more accurate and appropriate preventive behaviors.
