The Result of The Innovation on Straw Pillow at Hospital Health Promotion Center Region 5, Ratchaburi

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to measure low back pain scales of pregnant women during laboring waiting period at Health Promotion Hospital, Health Center Region 5, Ratchaburi province after using innovative straw pillows. Participants were 50 pregnant women. The developed innovative straw pillows and questionnaires linked to general information of the participants and also pain scale measurement were used as the research tools for conducting the experiment and collecting data. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics in terms of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and pair t-test.  The results revealed that mean score of pain scales before using the straw pillows of the participants was 5.92 (S.D. = 1.31) and mean score of pain scale after using the straw pillows of the participants was 3.13 (S.D. = 1.34). When comparing mean score of pain scales before to mean score of pain scale after the intervention, there were the significant reduction (p<0.05) in low back pain scales of the participants.
