Abstract

The book of 1 Samuel mentioned the Jewish proverb "Is Saul also among the prophets?" It is found twice in different situations. This article intended to explain that the Deuteronomistic History (DtH) helps the reader to understand the book of 1 Samuel especially the meaning of this proverb. Moreover, DtH and its   theology such as the theology of blessings and cursings give a new understanding to the readers, especially it is the reason why Judahites were taken captives to Babylon. If the Judahites did not obey God's commandments, they would be punished like Saul, being naked before the public.
