The Interaction between Hospital Visits and Income Adequacy that Affects Care of the Older People in Accordance with the Role of Local Government Organizations in Seven Southern Provinces

Abstract
This descriptive research aimed to examine the relationship between hospital visits and income adequacy that affects care of the older people according to the role of local government organizations in seven southern provinces. The samples of this study were 6,006 older people living in the lower southern area. Multi-stage sampling method was used to recruit the sample. The questionnaire was designed according to the role of local government organizations in care of the older people in community which had index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) ranging from .67 to 1.00 and Cronbach alpha coefficient at .97. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, and two-way ANOVA.
The results revealed a statistical significance between hospital visits and income adequacy that affects care of the older people according to the role of local government organizations in 7 southern provinces (p = .001). The older people who had inadequate income received less care than those who had adequate income and savings.
Therefore, public health service providers should coordinate with local government organizations in order to provide hospital van service, in particularly, for those who do not own a car and have inadequate income.
