Evaluation of A Student-Centered Learning in Community Health Nursing Practicum Subject, The Royal Thai Navy College of Nursing

Abstract

            This evaluative research aimed to evaluate a student-centered learning in Community Health Nursing Practicum Subject about knowledge, attitude towards health service in community, community health nursing skills, group work behaviors, and learning outcomes under Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF : HEd). The sample was 60 fourth-year nursing students of the Royal Thai Navy College of Nursing in the academic year 2016. The research instruments included student-centered lesson plan, knowledge test on community health nursing, assessment forms for attitude, community health nursing skills and group work behaviors, TQF in community health nursing practicum subject, and questionnaires for the opinions on the learning. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
            The results of this research were as follows: 1) The correlation between community health nursing knowledge and community health nursing skills, and attitude towards health service in community were at a low level with the statistical significance at .05 (r = 0.31 and 0.37), 2) After implementation of the learning, the overall scores of community health nursing knowledge and learning outcomes were higher than the baseline (p < .05), and 3) The students had high level of overall and each aspect of opinions on the learning.
