Maritime Medicine Nursing Conceptual Framework

Abstract
Maritime medicine nursing is the core competency of navy nurses which shows unique
proficiency of the profession in providing care for occupations in all maritime dimensions, that
covers the aspect of nursing care under limited resources in the context of maritime areas.
At present, the knowledge about health status of marine occupations is still limited resulting in
a limitation of nursing knowledge in providing comprehensive health care for them. This article
aims to clarify conceptual framework and the procedures in the study of maritime medicine
nursing in order to gain comprehensive knowledge about the factors that contribute to health
status, health problems, and diseases among marine occupations, as well as the role of navy
nurse in providing care. Ultimately, its goal is to be a source of learning and a center of maritime
medicine nursing.
