Abstract

This research was the research and development with the objectives to: 1) study on
the servant leadership of the 4th year nursing students from the Praboromarachanok Nursing
College, 2) develop servant leadership curriculum for the 4th year nursing students from the
Praboromarachanok Nursing College, and 3) evaluate the servant leadership curriculum of the
4th year nursing students from the Praboromarachanok Nursing College. The study comprised
3 research stages. The first stage was to study on the servant leadership by surveying
opinions of the 360 samples who the 4th year nursing students. The tool was a 5-rating
scale questionnaire with reliability of 0.98. The data was analyzed by mean and standard
deviation.The second stage was to develop the servant leadership curriculum for nursing
students to accordance with the study results on servant leadership. After that, the drafted
curriculum was inspected by 7 experts by focus group to test appropriateness and validity.
The third stage was to evaluate the servant leadership curriculum for the 4th year nursing
students by testing with the 30 nursing sampling students who were in 4th year of Boromarajonani
College of Nursing, Sonkhla. The attitude, behavior test on servant leadership
and satisfactions of the training attendances were employed. All of them had been
approved by 5 experts on content validity and the reliability were at 0.98, 0.96, and 0.89
respectively. The gathered data was analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and paired
sample t-test.
The results showed as follows. 1. 10 components of servant leadership consisted of
1) hearing, 2) empathy, 3) healing, 4) awareness, 5) persuasion, 6) stewardship, 7) commitment
to the growth of people, 8) conceptualization, 9) foresight, and 10) building community.
Overall behavior was at a high level ( = 4.21). When considering each aspect, the highest
three levels were listening to others ( = 4.42), empathy ( = 4.40), and awareness
( = 4.40). 2. The development of servant leadership curriculum of the 4th year nursing
students from the Praboromarachanok Nursing College by focus group was operated by
using four training chapters, taking 3 days. 3. The evaluation was found that the there was
no difference on students' behavior before and after the training at the statistical significance
level of 0.05. The attitude toward servant leadership after training was higher than
before training at the statistical significance level of 0.05. Overall satisfaction of the students
was rated at a high level (x = 4.51). When considering each aspect, there were six aspects
ranked the highest level and six aspects ranked the high level. The highest three aspects
consisted of suitability of lecturers ( x= 4.83), relationship between the lecturers and the
attendants (x = 4.63), and food and beverage (x = 4.60).
