Abstract

Pinguecula, pterygium, cataracts and glaucoma are common eye diseases. Pinguecula and pterygium are
diseases of the conjunctiva. Most patients who have irritating symptoms which do not cause blindness can be
treated solely with medication. A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens and can lead to reversible vision loss.
Surgery should be done in severe cases. Clogged drainage channels in the eyes increases pressure in the
eyeball. The result is a loss of vision. Close follow-up and prompt treatment are necessary to prevent permanent
damage to vision.
