The Development of a Decision Support System for Student for a Study Plan in General Education

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were 1) to develop a decision support system for student for      a study plan in General Education 2) to evaluate the performance of the system 3) to examine the students’ satisfaction of the system. This decision support system was developed by Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in MS Office Excel Program. The system was evaluated by five experts who have worked for the General Education Program. The result indicated that the system had a good performance for all rate of aspects. The researchers collected data from 140 students to measure their satisfaction toward the system. The result showed the high level of satisfaction, and most of them agreed that the way to display the result of the system is easy to understand. It can help them to choose the subject in General Education courses, which suit their competency. In conclusion, this system benefit students for planning to study in General Education. In addition, the Innovative Learning Center (ILC), which administer general education lessons for Srinakharinwirot University undergraduate students and can use this system to provide the courses which match the student needs.
