Factors Influencing the Decision to Enroll in the Medical Technology Program at the School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, Through the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS)

This study aimed to examine the factors influencing students’ decision to enroll in the Bachelor of Science Program in Medical Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, through the Thai Central Admission System (TCAS). This study aimed to examine the factors influencing students’ decision to enroll in the Bachelor of Science Program in Medical Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, through the Thai Central Admission System (TCAS). A total of 439 students participated in the study. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire developed by the researcher, encompassing three main dimensions: university image, curriculum-related factors, and personal motivations. Data analysis was conducted using statistical software, employing descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient for inferential analysis.
The findings revealed that the overall level of influence of the studied factors on students’ decision-making was rated as high ( = 4.14, S.D. = 0.67). Among the individual dimensions, university image received the highest mean score (
= 4.39, S.D. = 0.54), followed closely by curriculum-related factors (
= 4.37, S.D. = 0.56), while personal motivations were rated at a moderately high level (
= 3.66, S.D. = 0.90). The results suggest that these factors can inform strategic planning for student recruitment. Recommendations include leveraging information technology, enhancing opportunities for domestic and international internships, and further developing the curriculum to ensure accreditation by the Medical Technology Council and alignment with labor market demands. These strategies are anticipated to positively influence prospective students’ decision-making processes regarding enrollment in the Medical Technology Program.
