The Development of information systems for managing student development activities, Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University

Abstract

            The purpose of this research was to develop a system for student development activities management system, Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkhla University and to assess the satisfaction of the users of the student development activities management system, Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkhla University. This research has developed a system base on the system development life cycle (SDLC) process in an online format. Using development tools including ASP programs, AJAX technology, and Microsoft SQL Server databases. Students can apply for activities, accepting participation in activities and view activity participation history. Staff have the ability to define project activity information and proceed to notify students to accept participation in activities to prepare for organizing activities, checking activity participation along with identifying reasons for non-participation, prepare name sheets for disbursement to financial work and summarize activity participation statistics for appropriate activity planning.

            The results of the satisfaction evaluation of a sample of 298, it was found that the mean satisfaction in using the system was 4.38 (with a standard deviation of 0.72), which is the highest level of satisfaction. This developed system allows administrators to plan and support decisions regarding the development of student activities in line with the current situation and appropriately respond to the needs of today's students. The system has been designed to be able to work easily and quickly. Reduce errors and can effectively check and track students' participation in activities. Therefore, it helps to manage student development activities more efficiently.
