Abstract

‘Graphical Abstract’ or ‘Visual Abstract’ is the presentation of research concept within a single picture or diagram, to summarize the important results of the particular research. Graphical abstracts are responsible for attracting researchers or readers to our research. Amid the current competition in the academic publishing market, getting the attention of readers and peer-reviewers before others is important. Graphical abstracts can promote research to stand out on social media. It has positive effects on the overall citation numbers of research and influences the ‘Altmetrics’ index, which is gaining popularity today. Researchers may need additional time to develop graphical abstracts, or may need to rely on extra assistants. However, graphical abstracts offer values in contemporary academic communication that are beneficial to the academic community and to researchers themselves, who have a direct responsibility to communicate knowledge to society.
