Budgeting approval for clinical research from private sector done in Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital

Abstract

         This is a study of budgeting approval for clinical research from private sector which had been approved by the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital. The data was collected between August 2013 and July 2014, total 37 projects was divided into 2 groups which were Clinical Trial for 33 projects and Cohort Study for 4 projects. Most of the Clinical Trial were Phase III, 17 projects which was 51.52 percent and secondary was Phase IV, 12 projects which was 36.36 percent. Most of the projects were from Department of Medicine, 27 projects 72.97 percent and secondary was Department of Pediatrics 7 projects 18.93 percent.

          The total budgets approved was 41,591,479 Baht and the overhead expenses was 8,031,840 Baht. For the Clinical Trial Phase III and Phase IV have the average operating budget per case was 248,480 Baht and 44,425 Baht and overhead expenses per person was 40,068 Baht and 8,862 Baht respectively. Regarding Cohort Study Phase III and Phase IV have the average operating budget per person was 217,590 Baht and 5,748 Baht and overhead expenses per person was 43,518 Baht and 1,150 Baht respectively.
