Abstract

Purposes: To compare the mean scores of preterm labor prevention behaviors and pretermbirth rates, and to evaluate the mean satisfaction scores of at-risk pregnant women afterparticipating in the developed program.

Study design: A quasi-experimental research using a one-group pre-test/post-test design.

Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 20 at-risk pregnant women receiving prenatal care at the Antenatal Care (ANC) clinic of At Samat Hospital, selected based on specific inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a preterm labor risk assessment form, a uterine contraction monitor, and a preterm labor prevention behavior questionnaire. The questionnaire demonstrated item discrimination power ranging from 0.42 to 0.73, with an overall Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.871. Data analysis was performed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test, with statistical sigice set at a 95% confidence interval (95%CI).

Main findings: Following the intervention, the subjects' overall mean score for prevention behaviors significantly increased (p < .001), rising from 2.35 + 0.28 in the pre-test period to 2.79±0.25 in the post-test period. The mean difference was 0.44 (95% CI: 0.35,0.53). The preterm birth rate among the sample was 5.0%. Furthermore, overall satisfaction with the motivational enhancement program was at a high level (4.40± 0.35).

Conclusion and Recommendations: The findings indicate that the developed healthinnovation effectively improved preterm labor prevention behaviors among the participants, subsequently contributing to a reduction in preterm birth rates.
