Effectiveness of Ratchsomna Massage by Plai Oil on Patients With Frozen Shoulder in Roi Et hospital

Abstract

Purposes:  To study the effectiveness of Ratchsomna Massage by Plai Oil on patients with frozen shoulder in Roi Et hospital.

Study design: Quasi – experimental research.

 Material and Methods : The sample group consisted of patients with frozen shoulder who received treatment at the Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Division, Roi Et Hospital. Total of 60 people, divided into 30 experimental groups and 30 control groups. The study was conducted between March 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025. The research instruments were: 1) The experimental instrument was Ratchsomna massage by Plai oil. 2) The instruments used for data collection were the general information questionnaire, muscle pain assessment form and neck range of motion measurement form. Statistics used in the analysis include descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, paired sample t-test and independent t-test, (p< .05).

Main finding: After the experiment, the groups receiving the Ratchsomna massage by Plai oil and the control group had significantly different pain scores (p<.001). The group received the Ratchsomna massage by Plai oil had a pain score lower than 3.06 points (95% CI: 2.40, 3.73). The degree of neck movement after the experiment between the group receiving the Ratchsomna massage by Plai oil and the control group. After the experiment in the 4th week, the group receiving the Ratchsomna massage by Plai oil and the control group had significantly different neck bending, neck lifting, left tilt and right tilt degrees (p<.001).

Conclusion and recommendations: Ratchsomna massage by Plai oil resulted in patients with frozen shoulder having reduced muscle pain and increased range of motion in the neck area. Therefore, continuous monitoring of symptoms should be performed to achieve sustainable results.
