Effectiveness of Developing Standards for Health Establishment Massage and Spa in Khon Kaen province

Purpose : To analyze the results of the assessment, examine strategies for enhancing operational practices, and develop recommendations for the advancement of health-related establishments in Khon Kaen Province.
Study design : Analytical Research.
Materials and Methods : This research involved analyzing the results of inspections of health establishments conducted retrospectively for the years 2022-2023, based on recorded inspection data. It included examining the strategies for operational development implemented from 2019 to 2023 and formulating recommendations for the enhancement of health establishments. Data was collected using a developed survey instrument and analyzed using both descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis.
Main findings : The effectiveness of developing standards for health establishments specializing in massage and spa services in Khon Kaen Province reveals issues related to premises, safety, and service quality, which result in non-compliance with standards and potential safety hazards. Therefore, the following five main strategies are recommended for improving health establishments: Development of Standards for Premises, Safety, and Service Quality: 1) Establishing uniform standards that health establishments can directly implement to ensure hygiene and compliance. 2) Enhancement of Operator Capabilities: Initiating a model establishment in each district, managed according to local context, to serve as a benchmark for best practices. 3)Support for Knowledge Exchange and Observational Learning: Encouraging operators to visit and learn from each other’s establishments to foster knowledge sharing. 4) Capacity Building and Training: Providing comprehensive training and knowledge dissemination to address all relevant issues for both operators and staff. And 5) Ongoing Monitoring and Evaluation: Implementing continuous oversight, assessment, and surveillance to ensure sustained adherence to standards and address emerging challenges.
Conclusion and recommendations : This study has provided valuable knowledge for the development of standards and safety protocols, enhancing the effectiveness of health establishments in the future.
