The Development of Nursing Practice Guidelines for Psychiatric Patients with Aggressive Behavior who Receive Services in the Emergency Room: Chaturaphakphiman Hospital

Purposes : To study the situation,develop guidelines and study the effectiveness of using guidelines for caring for psychiatric patients with aggressive behavior who receive services in the Accident and Emergency Department at Chaturaphak Phiman Hospital.
Study design : Research and development (Research and development)
Materials and Methods : Study of professional nurses working in emergency departments. Chaturaphakphiman Hospital, 20 cases, and medical records of psychiatric patients with aggressive behavior who received service between 1 January 2023 - 30 November 2023, totaling 30 cases. Data analysis using descriptive statistics, finding frequencies, percentages, and inferential statistics (Paired t-test).
Main findings : After using the guidelines The average score of compliance with the guidelines for caring for aggressive psychiatric patients receiving services at the Emergency Department of Chaturaphat Phiman Hospital was at the highest level with an average score of =4.5 points. The satisfaction scores of professional nurses before and after Using guidelines There was a significant difference in consciousness at p-value<.05 and no risk incidence was found while nurses were caring for this group of patients.
Conclusions and recommendations :The results of this research highlight the importance of nursing practices for psychiatric patients with aggressive behavior receiving services in the emergency room. Therefore, agencies should prepare equipment and prepare areas for caring for patients with severe aggressive behavior problems.
