Development of Emergency Triage System at Phonthong Hospital

Abstract

Purposes :. To study the situation, develop the system, and evaluate the results of development of emergency triage system at Phonthong Hospital.

Study design : Mutual collaborative action research

Materials and Methods : 25 of Key informants were received services at emergency nursing work who met the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, 20 of related service providers, and those responsible for develop a system for screening, 6 of emergency patients. Data were collected using a recording forms, assessment forms, and questionnaires for group discussions, questionnaire guidelines for interviews, and analyzed the data using frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations.

Main findings : (1) There were found that problems in screening emergency patients in terms of screening, personnel, triage system and screening locations. The screening system (Phonthong Hospital Triage) consists of initial symptom assessment, prioritize the urgency of medical treatment (within 4 minutes), severity was divided into 5 categories: resuscitation (red), emergency (pink), urgency (yellow), semi-Urgency (green), and non-Urgency (white) and (3) evaluation of results of screening system found that results of patient screening were correct (88.71%).

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this study result in increased quality of service recipients, providers, and service results. Therefore, development guidelines from this research should be used for further development in related agencies.
