The Development of a System and Mechanisms Road Safety Management in Community on Multinetwork Changhan District, Roi-Et

Abstract

Purposes : To development of a system and mechanisms road safety management in community on multinetwork Changhan District, Roi-Et.

Study design : We were conducted a research and development research.

Materials and Methods : Total of 44 key informants were committee members of Changhan District Road Safety Operations Center and the network. We were conducted research in two steps; research preparation and conducting research, operated from January to December 2023. Data were collected using a questionnaire, tests and reports. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and percentage differences.

Main findings : Before development, it was found that conditions of road safety management overall it was at a high level, especially the issue of road engineering,and following traffic rules was the most problematic. The road safety management system and mechanism consists of five steps (1) analysis of problem conditions (2) development of  potential of involved parties (3) creation of participatory projects (4) continuous monitoring and evaluation. and (5) summarize, extract lessons, and publicize. And after developing overall road safety management knowledge score increased from 11 (44%) to 19 (76%), with a percentage difference score increasing by 53.33%, the number of accidents decreased from Year 2022 from 347 times to 262 times, a decrease of 27.91%. The number of injured persons decreased from 394  to 273 in 2022, a decrease of 36.28%, and there were no deaths during the New Year festival and Songkran Day.

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this research result in increased road safety management. Therefore, relevant agencies should use it to solve problems in the area.
